Title: True Believer
Gender: Female
Location: Seattle area, Pacific Northwest ![]()
About Me:
I am a patient activist for people living with Parkinson's disease - as I have done myself for the past 7 years. I pay special attention to mental health, disability, and creativity, and have maintained a website for that purpose for many years- http://www.clognition.org/.
As an activist I am interested in the dynamics of culture change - how to shift the paradigm. My guiding principle is Margaret Mead's reminder, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
~ if you're gonna do something, do it with fun ~
The Indigo Girls' song “Tether,” written by Amy Ray,
is the source of my title:
I sing to you, all you true believers
With the strength to see this and not be still.
I'm telling you now, find the hope that feeds you,
Don't let 'em bleed you of your will.

How can one person make a difference? By not being afraid to speak your truth! I call it the “Emperor has no Clothes” approach to change. Sometimes all it takes is stating the obvious for walls to begin to crumble.
So - if you are frustrated by systems (political, social, universal) and want to effect change - OR - if you are already out of the closet as an agent of change - join us to share ideas, stories, and encouragement for challenging the “system” - and yourself.
